68RFE Tow Maxx Transmission (Heavy Tow & Tuned Applications)

Our 68RFE Tow Maxx Transmission is purpose-built for trucks that live under load. Whether you’re hot-shotting, towing full-time, or running a more aggressive (“spicy”) tune, the Tow Maxx is engineered to survive sustained abuse where stock-style units fall short.

Designed to reliably operate at up to 225 PSI line pressure, this transmission delivers increased clutch holding capacity, improved heat control, and firm, consistent shifts under heavy load. It is the ideal solution for trucks that are constantly attached to a trailer and require maximum durability and control.

Transmission tuning is required to ensure proper operation and long-term reliability.

Tuning & Calibration Requirements

• TCM calibration must be data-logged and approved by Thompson Diesel Performance after installation

• If tuning parameter guidance is required, please reach out to us prior to or during tuning

• Failure to submit data logs for approval may result in denied warranty coverage

Tire Size & Gear Ratio Requirement

• Tire size must correctly match the axle gear ratio per the approved gear ratio chart

• Incorrect tire size combined with an improper gear ratio will result in immediate warranty void

• Proper tire-to-gear matching is critical for shift timing, clutch load, and transmission longevity
